The Olive Branch Marsden Reviews
Booked on a Friday evening (with a Groupon voucher) for sharing steak with glass of wine. On arrival, we were welcomed in a friendly and professional manner and advised we could have wine or another drink instead (such as beer) if we preferred. We decided to have starters of mussels and goats cheese (at extra charge) and they were superb. We ordered the steak ‘rare’ and it was served cooked to perfection. It came with a basket of chunky chips, a couple of large sized onion rings and a sauce of our choice. The meat was the best we’d had for a long time - just melted in your mouth and so tasty. All the staff we met were young but well trained, friendly, professional and a credit to the business. Without the Groupon, this would have been expensive but superb nevertheless. We had a really enjoyable meal here and have no reservations in recommending the Olive Branch - excellent food. Thank you.
We have visited The Olive Branch previously a few years ago and whilst the food was very nice it was quite pricey and the menu didn't seem to change. The sharing Cote de Beof that we had (which was a Groupn deal) was absolutely delicious and more than enough for the two of us, in fact we did leave some of the sides. The restaurant was very quiet, probably as we visited early but was cosy and welcoming. The lady that seated and served us was very friendly and polite. We noticed that they now do an earlybird menu midweek which is not overly priced, I think it was 2 courses for around fourteen pounds with a good variety of meals to choose from. Will definitely be back.
We had a lovely Sunday night stay at The Olive Branch on the dinner, bed and breakfast deal. Lovely people, great value, fantastic food and wine. Thank you once again.
Haven’t eaten here for a few years, but bought a Groupon voucher and me and the hubby went for a late Valentine’s treat.
The food was delicious. The only disappointment was that the pigeon was sold out, but we had mussels and goats cheese to start, followed by the beautiful sharing steak, chips, onion rings, salad and sauce! Lovely ambiance and great service! We will be back again
We visited using a groupon deal (birthday gift )
The pub is nicely decorated and cosy very friendly staff
... food amazing the steak was cooked to perfection 😋 we will definitely return
Got a groupon voucher for 4 person to dine. Steak with onion rings + chunky chips with a bit of salad. Steak nicely cooked but the portions I think is not enough for sharing. Starters/desserts expensive. Groupon this is not value for money!!!! If your planning to purchase voucher through groupon think twice!!!! If you want to pay ££££ go got it otherwise avoid this restaurant!!!!Why I give 1 star? Coz no 0 option!!!
We went with friends on Saturday afternoon they hadn’t told us where we were going. The restaurant is lovely and welcoming as were the staff. We were seated next to the fire which was lovely. We all had the 3 course menu for £20. The food was superb. Garlic creamy mushrooms delicious roast beef dinner fabulous and cheese and biscuits and sticky toffee pudding. Will definitely go again.

We stayed here for the first time during the Imbolc Fire Festival weekend and were overwhelmed with the hospitality we received, Charlotte & Paul are both professional, friendly and very accommodating, their staff are all friendly & efficient, surrounded in quality & cosy decor it was easy to feel at home. Our room was clean, very spacious and comfortable. We stayed on for Sunday lunch, as a Vegan customer the Chef was very accommodating offering to make a few tweaks to dishes to accommodate my dietary needs, and it was delicious.
We will return in the future and recommend you visit too.
We thought the meal was lovely but felt it was over priced for we had in comparison to other pub meals we have been to..
Wonderful evening, good, perfectly cooked food, the hard work and skill was in every dish we had. No short cuts had been taken, Would highly recommend.
Beautiful food, great wine and a lovely atmosphere. What’s not to like? Staff were warm and welcoming. A lovely night
Got recommended this place from a friend and so decided to go on NYE! What a wonderful place. What may look from the outside as a run-of-the-mill pub is actually a warm, welcoming venue. The 3 of us were greeted by very friendly staff all with big smiles! We got our drinks and sat down in a cosy little area to look at the fantastic menu, before being shown to our table. I ordered the pigeon breast for starter as I had never tried it. It was incredible. Lots of flavour and perfectly seasoned. I followed this with the Beef cheek which again, was a taste sensation, so so tender. I rounded it off with a selection of desserts (the only photo I took stupidly) and they were just as good! A brilliant way to end my meal.Would I go again? DefinitelyWould I reccomend it to my friends and family? Absolutely!Thank you to everyone there who made this a wonderful experience!
Very large double room with nice en suite bathroom. This property has a coffee station in the corridor with a toaster, kettle coffee machine and a fridge with milk in. Also there are bottles of alcohol in the fridge which you can take and leave the money for your purchases, but no kettle in the rooms, but that is not a problem.. Easy access to the property next door to the public house,up the stairs to the rooms so you can come and go s you please, and around the rear of the pub is ample secure parking.
Visited on a Sunday night.Would have preferred to have been take to table rather than stood milling around to order at the bar. Menu is good with plenty of variety but then we encounterd a reoccurring issue they had run out of loads of stuff. Specials on the board run out, Estrella - run out, Diet Coke - run out (i've never seen that before) a couple of dishes on the menu run out. When our food did arrive it was all decent - although: pet hate serving a massive lump of pate with 4 squares of very flimsy toast and setting the pate on salad leaves always annoys me. Main course, fish - roast dinners all decent. Good portions and well cooked. Ordered dessert and they had run out. Chose something else Parkin based sticky toffee pudding and it was probably the weakest part of the meal just too stodgy. It would have been a bit better with some ice cream but they had run out of Vanilla - i appreciate it might have been busy but to run out of so many items seems a bit odd. Waiting staff were pleasant. Despite the stock issues I would go back
We visited the olive branch yesterday, my brother and his family were over from Denmark and we wanted to find somewhere nice to eat , we did! Everything was spot on and we will definitely be back.
We love staying at the Olive Branch where staff have always made us feel welcome (despite the fact that we often arrive by bicycle and can be wet and wind swept!) The evening meal was fabulous - this time we particularly enjoyed the ham hock starter and the cinder toffee ice cream which accompanied a delicious parkin. It is a lovely cosy place to visit and we hope to be back soon.
A lovely overnight stay in the Serengetti room, which was comfortable, spacious and well appointed. Fabulous evening meal with a great selection of gins and hearty breakfast. As we'd booked the special dinner, bed and breakfast offer for 2 all for £120, this represented excellent value for money! 😁
Lovely welcoming staff, well priced and delicious food!First time visiting and definitely will be back.
Although we didn't spend overly much time in our room, we had a great experience at the Olive Branch Inn. As we were attending a wedding in the local area, they were very accommodating and allowed us to check in early to be able to drop off our belongings. The room was spacious and clean, the beer fridge and coffee maker on the landing are a great touch. The breakfast was delicious and just what we needed after a heavy night on the beer!
