Lidl Review by b s, 2020-12-22T06:52:37
I used to shop at Tesco but I've been shopping mostly at Lidl (and Aldi) for over a year now and there's a good reason for that:-prices are reliably low/reasonable. e.g. you can be sure that if you pick up a cucumber or a tin of tomatoes that it won't be one of the expensive ones. And there aren't a bunch of complicated 'offers' like there constantly are at Tesco. -the quality of food and drink is just as good, I've never noticed worse quality than Tesco's own brand products at minimum. Often Lidl has nice premium items for really good value prices too. -my local has plenty of self-checkouts which I find easy and convenient to use, stores are clean, well-stocked so I find them to be modern and efficient. -Lidl is my favourite because I especially love their weekly wine / veg offers and occasionally a bargain at the Super Weekend prices. -they have stores in city centre locations which is more useful and convenient for me as a non-driver. What I don't really like is the new Plus app which I haven't taken up - I would prefer to use a card, or to have the prices available without an app. And it would be great if the website had more of their food/drink stock and prices on it to look up (Aldi has a lot of that and I look up items on the website). But all in all, I do really like that they've come along and challenged the big supermarkets with something different and which is good value.
