Home Instead were highly recommended by family after they had supported & cared for a relative so well. Dad has relocated to the area and we were looking for some support for him especially for periods when he is alone. From the first phone call we have received pleasant, responsive and proactive attention. I sat in for the initial assessment and was highly impressed and delighted by Ruth’s kind, attentive and respectful interview technique. I used to teach assessment and consultation skills for degree level nursing students and one of my strap lines was ‘a good assessor will glean the essential information required to care thoroughly and holistically for the person, but a great assessor will glean that information and will carry out the consultation without the person ‘feeling’ they are being assessed’. Dad and I agreed that was certainly his experience. He felt included, respected, listened to AND heard. The outcome of that all important initial assessment has been an excellent package of care sensitively tailored to Dad’s needs and preferences. A carer (Sara) has been allocated to Dad in accordance of his personal needs but importantly - in alignment with his interests and personality too. This is an outstanding aspect of care and has meant for instant engagement and rapport. The package is focused on enabling and enhancing Dad’s life but is adjustable and responsive to changing need. We are all delighted with the input but also feel reassured and relaxed in that when we are unable to be around, Dad has Home Instead supporting, monitoring, responding and able to step up care as and when it may be required. A heartfelt thanks to Ruth, Sara and to you all - always professional, always pleasant, always put the client first and are always kind. A caring agency who actually CARE!
