The Olive Branch Marsden Review by O4486QBrichardm, 2018-12-08T00:00:00

Arrived here at 7pm on Friday after booking a table through the company's app. Booking was easy and offered a selection of times during the evening. We arrived about half an hour early and decided to find a nearby pub for a quick drink, there are a few nearby and the one we chose was warm and friendly. I drove back to the Olive Branch Inn on time and found parking behind the restaurant was a decent size and well lit. It is on a busy road so it is nice to park off road. We entered the restaurant and was welcomed by a very attentive young lady, who found our booking straight away (the app works!). We were brought to the small but cosy bar area to read the menus which were a printed a la carte and a fixed price menu. I ordered a gin and tonic for my partner and a alcohol free beer for me. A large selection of gin and quality tonics are available and the beer was really nice and a large bottle (no need to keep ordering Becks blue which goes in a few sips). We ordered a mix of a la carte and fixed price menu. Food came out of the kitchen well prepared and was presented really pleasantly. I had the Whitby Crab Starter and Belly Pork, my partner had Goats Cheese starter and Belly pork too. Both faultless and decent...Arrived here at 7pm on Friday after booking a table through the company's app. Booking was easy and offered a selection of times during the evening. We arrived about half an hour early and decided to find a nearby pub for a quick drink, there are a few nearby and the one we chose was warm and friendly.I drove back to the Olive Branch Inn on time and found parking behind the restaurant was a decent size and well lit. Both faultless and decent size portions. What really stood out for us was the service style. Staff were attentive and chatty but not intrusive. It is a sign of good service when you are served without feeling you are being served - we waited for nothing and were left to comfortably chat to each other about our week.Desserts were a must as they started serving Christmas pudding which I decided I was having since I arrived. It didn't disappoint, with a creme Anglaise that balanced the richness of the pud. My partner had sticky toffee which was a classic favourite that finished off the meal nicely.Card payments allowed for a tip which is always useful now that we rarely pay by cash. We left a healthy tip as the team deserved it and we left happy, knowing we will be bringing our friends back as it has been too long since we dined here.Well done it was 11/10 for us.More
