The Olive Branch Marsden Review by AWonderingWanderer, 2019-05-14T00:00:00

We decided to dine at The Olive Branch for the 3 course Sunday lunch (£20). Upon arrival we were seated in the dining room, which I was slightly disappointed by as the décor was a bit bright and sterile and it would have been nice to eat in the homely pub part at the front, but perhaps this is just for drinking. We both ordered garlic mushrooms with salami to start which was delicious and served with warm bread. For the main, I opted for the chicken roast and my partner went for the beef roast. The dish was nice but not as good as the starter in my option. Us Northerns do like our gravy, but the food was really swimming in it (see photo) and I think it would have been better served in a jug on the side, but that is just my personal preference. The veg was honey roasted and tasty and served with a large Yorkshire pudding. The best part of the meal was the amazing sticky toffee pudding, which I would highly recommend. Wow! The toffee sauce was incredible. All in all, this was a really enjoyable meal and I was so full I had to lie down for a couple of hours when I got home! More
