Choices Redhill Reviews
Very fast in responding, very professional and getting things sorted quick
Gave another tenants email address and bank details through an 'admin error'. Not competent. Would not recommend.
I have dealt with alot of agencies and Amy is the most lovely and helpful person I've ever had the pleasure to deal with when renting a property.
On my second rented room from Choices, as per the other reviews lots of empty promises and obfuscation of fees/details of tenancy. It really appears like they're going out of their way to make the fee structure as complicated as possible to confuse you into paying unnecessary fees. The moving in and admin fees, etc are too much considering how badly they can mess up even a simple contract. On my first contract it took them 4 tries with me having to spell out my details of my tenancy (£175 well spent) before my contract details were correct - amazing considering most of it is boilerplate stuff.
They also moved my moving in date without telling me and on the whole communication is pretty poor depending on who you deal with. The London office (I'm renting in London but all admin is in Redhill) has now stopped responding to my emails despite me being a repeat customer and just about to put down a new deposit with them.
The London office seems to be a standard flashy salesman, empty promises, high fees, high turnover operation same as all the other cheapo agents out there. Tunde especially is the king of empty promises.
The admin in Redhill is more professional and are usually a lot more clued up. Bailie in Lettings Admin, for example, has been a stand-out professional, extremely helpful and has clarified in a few emails what weeks of chasing the London office didn't achieve. She is absolutely great!
I don't think Choices are a bad company, they just need much more oversight on communication to tenants and prospective tenants (especially in the London office). I think management would be shocked at the lack of compliance there.
The service has been exceptional........ Tunde worked very hard to make sure I secured a property I wanted and was professional friendly & very positive, always keep me updated and Ashley in the office on the last few days of completion of signing really helped when I hit a few challenges, she really eased my mind....... everything was handled professionally with kindness and care and both these members of the team went the extra mile to make sure I didn’t have any worries impossible was nothing to them! Thank you a great couple of people, a great team a great business you have my vote...
Rea and Heyleigh - wow such superstars - professional attentive and helpful - really was in a pickle but these ladies helped me out and even went above and beyond to help me
Thanks i really appreciate it :)
Very impressed with the admin team in Redhill, in particular Paris who was very attentive and responded to all my queries almost instantaneously. On the whole, the process was fairly straight forward, however a word of caution when speaking to the agency side of the company...empty promises.
Jacqueline Petrova has been very polite, ready to help and does whatever necessary very promptly. This is for Jacqueline.
Staff have been extremely helpful and supportive! Definitely recommend to others :)
Very good service from Taryn,Unfortuneately she was let down by her manager.
What an unprofessional, un-organised, self-centred company Choices are. What my girlfriend had to deal with in the 4 years she was a tenant through choices is disgraceful. From day one after choices saying that the property at Broadmead Horley was ready and had been professionally cleaned, we found empty beer cans on top of the cupboards. The washing machine was that bad with black mould we removed it. The garden was promised to be cleared of rubbish. though after 4 weeks after moving in we had to clear ourselves. 19 black bags filled and removed. Mould growing on the ceilings in the bathroom and bedroom, which we had to bleach off and clean on a weekly basis. The council were mentioned to choices and then they acted. Blaming the landlord every time! We met with the landlord who was lovely. (Even suggesting that the home was immaculate after we had painted throughout and got the garden up to scratch). They charged the girlfriend an insurance premium each month, which they said she had to have. I found out and questioned it, they said that she didn't have to have it as she was employed, and that was for people who were unemployed. This was after the six months. They then proceeded to push for renewal of the tenancy agreement, which they originally said the girlfriend had to do, I disagreed and went to the office in person to remonstrate that legally the old tenancy could run on as a periodic. On leaving the property we cleaned it from top to bottom, even painting the walls and skirtings throughout, as we were told that choices would claim on anything they could. Trust us, they do. Not only did we have to pester for the deposit refund but argue how much they were allowed to charge. First e mail they claimed £130 for not giving any copies of utility bills, we were never told this. That was easily quashed, with copies of bills produced. Then a different charge of £95 was shown for renewal of tenancy agreement. This was vigorously denied over the phone, to be told that if we wanted to dispute this then it would take a lot longer to get any of the deposit back. Upon which I stated a few lines from the DPS which states that they are only allowed to withhold the disputed amount. We then sent across the e mail trail which showed confirmation of what was originally communicated and promptly asked for the full deposit back. We eventually had this paid into the account, minus the standard £95 check out fee 13 days after checking out (working days) We have numerous photographs of the property on start of tenancy and then a video and pictures on checking out. I will post some of these just to show what people are up against dealing with this rip off, unprofessional company. DO NOT TOUCH THEM WITH A BARGE POLE! If you do then you have been warned. You will deal with some obnoxious person, who thinks that they are a lot higher than anyone else, and who thinks that the tenants and the landlords owe them and choices. The girlfriend and I are employed in fairly high positions, a lot higher than the staff at choices, possibly higher than the directors. I could add a few other details in this message but will refrain for now. All I will say is that some issues had to be raised through the company directors to get any response. Though the response was always met with that they are doing you a favour, or in good will. When will the governing bodies start spot checking and penalising such Companies like choices for what they do to tenants / landlords? I for one will be submitting plenty of evidence in the forthcoming days / weeks. Simon Shinerock you should be ashamed of the staff you are employing and ashamed to call your company the most successful. If building a successful business is ripping the general public off then I would agree, you are the best in your field. I am sure that the Property Ombudsman Scheme and the National Approved Letting Scheme, along with allagents would be keen on seeing all my dealings and pictures from my experience of choices over the last four years!
Very slow, inefficient and often contradictory.
Disgusting service, getting your deposit back is near impassible in a decent time frame, it’s now day 23 from my check out and for the fourth time I’ve been told “tomorrow”
On top of this, when I moved in they gained access with no permission for Gas Safety Certificates.
Always have and always will be a shambles agency!
This is for Taryn's fantastic service,
Thank you Taryn for all your help managing my properties.
