Bradleys Estate Agents Camborne Review by Jay C, 2019-03-27T00:00:00

My partner and I have recently moved into our new build (Robertson Developers) and we absolutely love it! We had our eye on that development for a long time and we were waiting for a suitable property to be released so we could reserve one. We received a call from Bradleys to let us know one had been released that fit our criteria and so we arranged to view a similar, more finished property to get an idea, and Georgie also showed us where our partially built house was. We were really impressed and reserved it immediately. Overall Bradleys Camborne have been fantastic. We have just a few issues (not specifically about the Camborne team though): 1. While the Camborne team were great, I was not impressed with Bradley's "sales chasing" team based elsewhere in the country. There were a few occasions where our solicitor was waiting on very important documents from the developer's solicitor which we were waiting on for weeks. On one of these occasions, there was a wait of 2 months on a document and I was only informed of this delay after they'd been waiting 6 weeks. They had been waiting on a disc to be posted to Nalders, which contained electronic documents, for them to then download on their computers… ever heard of emails?! We are first time buyers and so knew next to nothing about buying a house, but we received little guidance or explanation about what anything meant/ next stages in the process/ and jargon was used a lot that we didn't understand. When we asked questions, or asked for more information/ explanation, we were made to feel like a nuisance. 2. This is regarding the solicitor at Nalders in Camborne; which is my biggest complaint. I only mention this as Bradley's recommended them to us. We were provided with a quote by Bradleys, for Nalders solicitors in Camborne, which was about £200 cheaper than another quote we obtained ourselves from another solicitor. We decided we'd use Nalders, which we later came to regret. (Also the fees ended up being a few hundred pounds more than originally quoted) Donna Linden was our assigned solicitor. There were occasions (of which I have written proof) where she was unbelievably rude to me; we were sent a plan of the plot with our land outlined in red for us to check, sign and return. The document arrived in the post, however they hadn't outlined our car port, so I notified them of this error. I received an email from Donna stating that it would be impossible for her to identify a 3D car port on a 2D plan. (But a 3D HOUSE can be identified on a 2D plan though?!) Anyway, this went on for a while, she kept saying the same thing over and over. I sent her a photo of what I had received, which had no red outline round the car port. She then went on to say (and I quote) “I myself am colour blind and even I can see that it's outlined in red.” And she sent me an image of what she had clearly meant to send me, but had sent me the wrong thing. She then realised that she'd done and asked me to outline it, sign and return it. I was nothing but polite, however I received no apology. We were told later on that we were in a position to exchange and so we paid the deposit. Before we exchanged, she emailed us to say she was leaving the company the following day and gave us the details of who would be taking over! So we had paid a lot of money and hadn't exchanged. Kerry Tresidder took over, which actually was a blessing – she was brilliant. She noticed that in fact we weren't yet in a position to exchange as we were, yet again, waiting for document to be sent from the developer's solicitor. So we exchanged about a 3-4 weeks after we paid our deposit. To be honest, the list of complaints I have about this solicitor are endless, but I'll save that for Nalders' review. Once we moved in, there was an issue which was Howdens' fault (which they are not willing to rectify) – we were given the wrong colour splashback, so it's not major, but still. Nick at Bradley's investigated this and chased it up for us at the time. I cannot stress enough, the Camborne branch team were great and very helpful; it's just a huge shame about their sales chasing team and the solicitors they recommend. Our house is beautiful and we couldn't be happier. Also happy that the purchase process is finally over!
